A native of Oak Cliff and resident of South Dallas in Dallas, TX, Lubbock Smith III serves as the Vice President, Director of Community Development & Vista Outreach at Vista Bank. He brings over ten years of experience in building educational and community outreach programs, business development, and leading nonprofit organizations. In his current position, Lubbock focuses on financial literacy education, small minority business opportunities, CRA, lending, and developing strategic partnerships.
After graduating from Carter High School with a full athletic scholarship, Lubbock attended the University of Kansas, earning a bachelor’s in Sociology and a master’s in Higher Education. During his Division-1 football career at Kansas as a 4-year starter at safety, he had many career honors, including earning College FootballNews.com’s Freshman All-American’ honorable mention and The Sporting News ‘Freshman All-Big 12’ team award in 2008. Lubbock began his professional career working in various academic advisory and student-athlete development roles for Division 1 athletic programs at the University of Kansas, the University of Southern California, and Old Dominion University. In 2020 Lubbock made a career shift, teaching 3rd-grade math and 8th-grade algebra at KIPP Truth Elementary and Academy in Dallas.
He currently serves as board member of the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, the Dallas Entrepreneur Center, and member of DFW Urban League Young Professionals. He also recently received Dallas Business Journal “Community Champion” honor for their 2023 Leaders in Diversity Awards and was selected as a 2023 cohort member of the 1st class of Engage Dallas, 10th class of the formerly known as Mayor’s Star Council, a leadership development program for engaged leaders advancing equity, civic engagement, service, and impact in Dallas. An entrepreneur at heart, Lubbock owns a personal fitness and consulting business, serves as Director at Builtin Realty Group, and is the Co-Founder of Camp Exposure, a faith-based student-athlete development program. Husband to his wife Diana and father of their three-year-old daughter Genesis, Lubbock is a lover of Christ and a servant-leader for his community.
