Every year people are always sitting on pins and needles to find out where Techstars Startup Week Dallas Basecamp will be at. This is never an easy decision to choose a location due to various factors that have to be considered in order for Basecamp to be the central hub for DFW's biggest week of the year for entrepreneurship.

What qualifies as an ideal location to host Basecamp at?
1. Location, Location, Location

A centralized location based in Dallas is essential for our main meeting hub. A Basecamp location needs access to nearby parking, public transportation and/or if you live in Downtown Dallas, a place where you can even walk to Basecamp from your own home.

2. Multiple Facilities
Your Basecamp location needs to have facilities such as multiple meeting locations, the ability to have different programs and events hosted in various locations within the venue. A central meeting area where people can come in, check in and connect with other attendees, which has typically been the lobby in past locations. There will be at least 4-5 different floors/areas where we will hold programs and events at Basecamp this year.

3. Amenities
It is exceptionally important to make sure there are all of the necessary amenities in your Basecamp location to ensure a community environment, encourage collaboration, and give people the ability to get work done while they are spending time at Startup Week.  Amenities like coffee shops, places to cowork, and areas to grab food and beverages are a must in order to create the appropriate and conducive environment for attendees.

4. Place to Throw a Great Party
There is nothing better at the end of a long day of sessions, panels, keynotes, and awesome networking than a Happy Hour, drinks meeting, or place to have a party. This year's Basecamp has several great locations to host our social events, with beautiful views of our downtown landscape and we are sure to see some great deals being done over a Super Coke and an appetizer or two.

In the past, we have had some great places to be the hub and basecamp for DSW. We have held it at 1700 Pacific Ave, a building where our partners Chase For Business have a presence. This location was great because of its centralized location, connection to our lead sponsor, Chase for Business, and the proximity to some of the more active parts of our ecosystem like Health Wildcatters, Tech Wildcatters and now WeWork.
Last year, we partnered with our friends at St. Paul Place to host basecamp at the D Magazine building. The great thing about this location was dispersed and spread out. Coincidentally, Chad Cook with Quadrant who owns this building is also the owner of The Centrum where great entrepreneur organizations like RewardStyle, Glass Media, Salesforce SME business and also the recently announced Capital Factory and Dallas Entrepreneur Center joint location.
Ross Tower, located at 500 N Akard St., is also known as the home of the Dallas Regional Chamber. This newly renovated building will be a great place for Basecamp starting with an amazing first floor foyer dedicated to coworking during Startup Week, a Starbucks for coffee, and a huge digital display that will share all important event information such as  schedules, speakers, events, and location info for all of your favorite Startup Week greatness. The 14th floor will be used as the primary location for main events. The 2nd & 6th floor will be used as well for other Basecamp activities.
You can expect breakfast and lunch every day at Basecamp (sponsored by Chase for Business) as well as coffee and other beverages. We will also be able to use the underground tunnels that lead directly to Ross Tower with conference/meeting rooms that will be used for meetings, training sessions, and classes.
Don't forget that this year, Techstars Startup Week Dallas is going regional! There will be events all across the region that is highlighting the great work that is being done by organizations, entrepreneurs, and companies to make North Texas the greatest place in the world to start, build, and grow a business.

A special thank you to Hunter Lee and the HPI Commercial Real Estate, LLC team for supporting Startup Week and providing the best place in DFW for 2018 Chase for Business Basecamp.
