John Dallager is President and Co-Founder of Unexpected Products, a technology holding company for innovative consumer product goods (CPG). Its premier operating company is Shaken Beverage Co. focused on shaking up the alcohol beverage category through it’s flagship brand Toucan Cocktails, white label services, and innovation consulting services. John is an angel investor in multiple companies in the CPG space as well as principal in The Dallager Group, a boutique CPG consulting company with clients in North America and Europe.
John began his career in Gallo’s management development program moving from sales to brand management to sales strategy and marketing. He worked across the United States and held a special assignment to launch brands in Europe. John worked directly on Barefoot Wine helping it grow from 500,000 cases to 15M cases and becoming the largest wine brand in the world during his five (5) years. He has worked in Charmer Sunbelt (Breakthru), Southern Glazer’s, and called on 15 different distributors across the US. He worked as the head of marketing and sales strategy for the SGWS Bacardi division in Texas where he specialized in incubation brands and building nationally awarded sales programs.
John was recruited in 2018 to Juul Labs to build out a trade and shopper marketing organization focused on in-store path to purchase and digital consumer programs. While at Juul John built the national account trade programs and was promoted to lead all Trade Marketing across all channels in North America. He was nationally recognized as the top marketing professional and “best of the best” (top 1%) in the company in 2020.
Upon leaving Juul John started the Dallager Group to provide consulting services to CPG companies as a fractional CMO and CCO. He has worked with a dozen clients over the years and after seeing opportunities in the market he founded Unexpected Products to shake up the beverage business with innovative packaging for better consumer experience in a stale packaging category.
John is a MBA graduate of the SMU COX School of Business and holds a degree in economics and political science from University of Colorado Boulder. He is married to his partner in crime, Stephanie, and they have a wonderful family with Natalie (1.5) and Otto the dog (5).
